Chamrousse News for 2010/2011

Chamrousse will be increasing its snow-making capabilities this winter ski season 2010/2011, with the help of a new lake located in Chamrousse 1650, near the Vernon building.

The Grenouillère lake will give the resort a second water stockage area and will increase its artificial snow capacities in winter. In summer, the lake will become an area with several aquatic activities, bronzing decks, water games for children and fishing zones in or near the lake.

With two lakes, the resort will count 90,000 cubic meters of water that will feed the snow canons if necessary.

Chamrousse is taking particular care to make sure that the artificial lake will fit into the mountain landscape. The impermeable synthetic membranes will be totally invisible to visitors because organic matter will completely cover them. The lake will thus become a part of the surrounding nature.

The project was started at the end of May 2010 and is set to be complete by mid November 2010.
