Les Arcs (Paradiski)
High altitude resort

Resort description

Les Arcs ski area is made up of 3 main resorts: Arc 1600, Arc 1800 and Arc 2000 - each a purpose built resort built with skiing and enjoyment in mind. The older and smaller village of Peisey-Vallandry sits lower in the valley and offers a more traditional feel whilst the recently built award winning Arc 1950 has become a well known village style resort offering the charm of a traditional village with all the creature comforts and conveniences of a modern resort. Each offering a different flavour from functional to charming, but all providing superb ski-in ski-out facilities within the Paradiski ski area. Spoilt with both skiing and snowboarding options, the ski area offering splendid views of the Mont Blanc mountain range and the Tarentaise Valley now stretches as far as La Plagne.

Arc 1600 is the lowest of the ski resorts that make up Les Arcs ski area. Arriving from Bourg Saint Maurice on the funicular, this charming village welcomes you with its open ski slopes and small compact village, designed with pedestrians in mind. There are two cinemas here and a handful of restaurants and bars to keep everyone happy.
As well as the Funicular that connects Les Arcs 1600 to the valley town of Bourg Saint Maurice, there is a shuttle bus that runs throughout the day from 07.30 - 21.00 between Arc 1600 and Arc 1800, Arc 1950 and Arc 2000.

Arc 1800 is the largest village of Les Arcs and has a west-facing mountainside. It is made up of four different areas called Charmettoger, Le Charvet, Les Villards and Le Chantel, Les Villards being the centre of the resort where all the amenities are located. it has a lot to offer from clothes and gift boutiques to a diverse selection of bars and restaurants. with everything from intimate restaurants to casual pizzerias and snack bars.
There is plenty to do and see aside skiing with 2 cinemas, a bowling alley, squash courts and a spa centre.
A shuttle bus runs throughout the day from 07.30 - 21.00 between Arc 1800 and Arc 1600 where you can take another bus to Arc 1950 and Arc 2000. There is also a shuttle taking guest to Le Chantel between 07.30 - 23.00

Arc 2000 is a great resort for couples and groups alike as well as being a perfect place to bring the entire family. The original purpose built architecture has enjoyed many improvements and is now counter-balanced by a more cosy extension made up of wood and stone chalets. It now has at its centre a welcoming piazza or "place centrale" which takes on a Mediterranean feel during the warmer spring month with "al fresco" dining or drinking at the restaurants and bars. For those looking to explore nearby on foot, Arc 2000 is linked to the neighbouring resort of Arc 1950 by a gondola which runs until 9pm.

Les Arcs has been awarded the P'tits Montagnards label which guarantees high quality facilities for children and there parents on holiday in the mountains.

Ski Collection also features Peisey-Vallandry as well as Arc 1950 Le Village - Please see our resort list for full details.

New High Speed Lift For Les Arcs

There will be some big changes at les Arcs next winter with a superb new spa at Arc 1950 and the remarkable Edenarc accommodation development at Arc 1800 but on the slopes too there’ll be a few improvements.

The biggest will be seen at Arc 1600 where the chairlift Mont Blanc will be replaced by a new bigger and faster lift.

This new detachable chairlift will provide direct access to the “Les deux têtes” area.

As a result the old “Les 2 têtes” and “Pierre blanche” ski lifts will be removed.

The aim of the changes is to improve the flow of skiers and boarders in the area and remove bottle necks as well as making it easier for people to go to Arc 1800 and Arc 2000.

And right across the vast Les arcs ski area the resort is spending on new standardised signage which will direct people not just to the pistes but also to the growing list of other attractions and activities on the slopes including the resort’s ice cave, sledge slope “Rodeo Park”, speed slope, waterslide, boarder cross and so on.
