Arc 1950 (Paradiski)
High altitude resort

Resort description

The stylish and recently established ski resort of Arc 1950 Le Village has been designed and built using authentic materials, stone, wood and slate so it is in keeping with Savoyard architecture. The pedestrian-only streets of Arc 1950 are neat and well-animated. Le Village Arc 1950 provides instant comfort and a secure atmosphere. Arc 1950 is located just below Arc 2000 (see our resort list), within the Paradiski ski area. A gondola links both ski resorts until 9pm.

Arc 1950, Les Arcs, Paradiski

The ski resort of Le Village Arc 1950 opened a few winter’s ago, pretty much as a new concept in the French Alps. It is attractively designed and built to upmarket standards.

Arc 1600 was the original ski resort that founded Les Arcs. Set in the trees, the village is compact and uncrowded, it has also kept much of its friendly atmosphere.

Arc 1800 is the largest village of Les Arcs and has a west-facing mountainside.

It is made up of 3 sections: Charmettoger, Les Villards and Le Charvet, where the majority of the shops, bars and restaurants are located.

Le Chantel section was more recently developed up the hillside in complete contrast. The stylish Savoyard buildings are literally sitting on the slopes, to offer an exceptional winter sports atmosphere.

Arc 2000 is perched at the tree line in a bowl at the foot of Aiguille Rouge. Here restaurants dress their terraces to offer a breathtaking alpine panorama.

Opposite the original modern buildings lays a group of newly built chalets on the edge of the cliff, providing immediate atmosphere.

Peisey village is clustered around its baroque church and is linked to the main lift system via a bucket lift.

Vallandry is positioned at the foot of the ski runs. Still small and quite although under recent development, it has a central pedestrian-only square where the shops, bars and restaurants are located.

Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950 and Arc 2000 are all road linked. There is a free shuttle bus which runs until 7.30pm.

Les Arcs has been awarded the P'tits Montagnards label which guarantees high quality facilities for children and there parents on holiday in the mountains.

Skiing in Arc 1950, Les Arcs, Paradiski

The 3 ski resorts of Les Arcs, La Plagne and Peisey-Vallandry make up the Paradiski area.

This means a huge variety of pistes, so it’s a place for everyone no matter their level, their style or their experience.

The ski resorts are linked by the Vanoise express, which is the world’s largest cable car.

The car leaves from Peisey-Vallandryin Les Arcs and arrives at Champagny-en-Vanoisein La Plagne.

One chair lift to the ridge and a blue run is all it takes to get to the cable car from Arc 1800, as from Arc 2000.

The ski domain of Les Arcs is to be awarded for its genuine varied spots/compact zone ratio. This mean you can make the best of your day out cruising on your skis rather than cruising on a chair lifts!

In Peisey-Vallandrythe lower half of the mountain side is good for mixed abilities with many of runs leading you between the trees.
