As a specialist niche operator we feel
that these resorts, rarely offered on the
British market, are well underrated and
represent excellent value for money -
together with a new experience than you
would normally get from larger resorts
and at lower prices. Other advantages are
the unique character and intimate charm
to each resort, the genuine Friendliness
of the locals
or the mid-altitude locations ideal for
the younger children who will not be
subject to altitude sickness. Moreover,
you will be able to enjoy meals with a
Provence or Spanish flavour and
experience a relaxing way of life, with a
certain “je ne sais
quoi”!
Though they are indeed further away from
the Channel ports, these mountain ranges
have easier access than you might think.
Thanks to the new and un-crowded motorway
network through central France, you can
drive in a day to the Pyrenees -
comfortably and safely. Alternatively,
you will find no-frill air tickets
available to regional airports such as
Toulouse, Pau and Perpignan. We can help
you book your transfer or car hire to get
to your resort. And if you are
considering the Southern Alps we do
actually recommend flying as the best
option. Nice and Marseille are both
excellent gateways.
The ski domains here are developed at a
smaller scale than the world-known
massive terrains such as the Three
Valleys. What makes them attractive
though are their equally first class lift
systems, good snow reliability and
snowmaking from top to bottom of the main
runs. The slopes here are undulating
below and above tree line and thus suited
to beginners wanting to build confidence
and the intermediate skiers and
snowboarders looking for a challenge. The
majority of our featured accommodation in
this Ski Classic Collection offers a
door-step skiing facility, while the
other few are linked straight to the ski
playground by a gondola located at a mere
walking distance.
The self-catering apartments, chalets and
hotels from our Ski Classic Collection
have been sourced from reputable
suppliers with which we have a strong
relationship. They are mostly new or
recently built or renovated. They are
well equipped and breathe quality through
space inside, with many having the
benefit of nice views from small
balconies or good size terraces. Many are
located in quiet areas, but close to the
shops and the amenities and, where
possible of course, we kept in mind other
facilities such as restaurants, bakers,
ski shops, ski schools and
nurseries.
Though not always possible when selecting
residences, we do look for other pleasant
extras such as pools, saunas and Jacuzzis
or any other item that will make your
stay even more enjoyable (some at extra
cost or payable locally). We have
endeavoured to give our clients a choice
of what they can get out of a quality ski
holiday with even better value.
Finally, the Directors have visited all
the resorts and accommodation Ski
Collection has on offer and the
reservation staff have visited many of
them too, thus the team being able to
give you first-hand knowledge and
service.
