Arc 1950
High altitude resort

Resort description

The stylish recent resort of Arc 1950 Le Village has been designed and built using authentic materials, stone, wood and slate so it is in keeping with Savoyard architecture. The pedestrian-only streets are neat and well-animated. The village provides instant comfort and a secure atmosphere. Arc1950 is located just below Arc 2000 (see our resort list). A gondola link both resorts until 9pm.

Les Arcs 1950

The resort of Les Arc 1950 Le Village opened two winter ago pretty much as a new concept in the French Alps. It is attractively designed and built to upmarket standards.

Les Arc 1600 was the original resort that founded Les Arcs. Set in the trees, the village is compact and uncrowded, it has also kept much of its friendly atmosphere.

Les Arc 1800 is the largest village of Les Arcs and has a west-facing mountainside.

It is made up of 3 sections: Charmettoger, Les Villards and Le Charvet, where the majority of the shops, bars and restaurants are located.

Le Chantel section was more recently developed up the hillside in complete contrast. The stylish Savoyard buildings are literally sitting on the slopes, to offer an exceptional winter sports atmosphere.

Les Arc 2000 is perched at the tree line in a bowl at the foot of Aiguille Rouge. Here restaurants dress their terraces to offer a breathtaking alpine panorama.

Opposite the original modern buildings lays a group of newly built chalets on the edge of the cliff, providing immediate atmosphere.

Peisey village is clustered around its baroque church and is linked to the main lift system via a bucket lift.

Vallandry is positioned at the foot of the ski runs. Still small and quite although under recent development, it has a central pedestrian-only square where the shops, bars and restaurants are located.

Les Arc 1600, Les Arc 1800, Les Arc 1950 and Les Arc 2000 are all road linked. There is a free shuttle bus which runs until 7.30pm.

Les Arcs  has been awarded the P'tits Montagnards label which guarantees high quality facilities for children and there parents on holiday in the mountains.

Skiing in Paradiski

The 3 resorts of Les Arcs, La Plagne and Peisey-Vallandry make up the Paradiski area

This means a huge variety of pistes, so it’s a place for everyone no matter their level, their style or experience

The resorts are linked by the Vanoise express which is the worlds largest cable car

The car leaves from Peisey-Vallandry in Les Arcs and arrives at Champagny-en-Vanoise in La Plagne

One chair lift to the ridge and a blue run is all it takes to get to the cable car from Arc 1800 as from  Arc 2000.

Skiing in Les Arcs

The domain is to be awarded for its genuine varied spots/compact zone ratio. This mean you can make the best of your day out cruising on your skis rather than cruising on a chair lifts!

In the Les Arcs ski area most routes have an easy and more difficult alternative making it good for mixed abilities

The best snow is to be found at Grand Col (2800m), which offers equally attractive runs for the intermediates

Les Arcs has over 30km of black runs for experts.

The olympic speed skiing track can be tested by strong-hearted members of the public, starting at various heights according to experience

In Peisey-Vallandry the lower half of the mountain side is good for mixed abilities with many of runs leading you between the trees

Snowboarding in Les Arcs

There is a terrain park just below Arpette and you can buy a pass to the park from Arc 1800

There are 2 areas in the park, the game zone with runs and jumps and an area for novices, there is also the more advanced display zone which has big jumps and rails

There is also a half pipe in Arc 2000, which is floodlit at night

Peisey-Vallandry has great smooth runs for beginners and carvers

In the Paradiski area there is 4 snow parks, 1 half pipe, 1 board gliss and 3 boarder crosses

Cross country skiing

Les Arcs has a 15km of trails

You can explore the 153km of marked trials in the Paradiski area
