France’s major resorts are very popular with
experienced skiers as they allow access to some of
the most challenging runs with spectacular scenery.
However, these resorts are not solely for the benefit
of the more experienced; they also cater very well
for beginner and also intermediate level skiers
looking for a variety of terrains along the many
miles of runs available. High altitude resorts
benefit from great snow conditions and due to the
reputation of these resorts as being snow sure they
all have snow making and piste maintenance facilities
in place should they be necessary.
Self-catering
ski accommodation costs a lot less than catered
chalets or hotels and is a great way to holiday with
friends, family or as a couple. It offers total
flexibility and convenience and gives you complete
control over your holiday. It is also great for
people who want a bit more privacy and a home away
from home feel to their holiday.
Upmarket self-catering ski apartment leader CGH
Residences manages some of the best developments
in the French Alps, combining traditional Savoyard
architecture with modern facilities. Built by the
acclaimed mountain architects MGM the luxurious
self-catering apartments provide high standard and
diverse accommodation that will appeal to skiers and
non-skiers, families and groups of friends in search
of excellent quality.

apartments and fantastic facilities. They are ideally
located close to the village resort centres, ski
school and ski hire shops, many offer door-step
skiing. The featured apartments are very stylish and
fitted and furnished to a high standard of comfort
and convenience. All of the 4* and 4* luxury Savoyard
residences feature luxurious indoor pools, saunas and
steam rooms which are available free of charge. We
recommend that you find time to be pampered in the
Spa and Beauty Care Centre‘O des Cimes
– Spas d’Altitude’, with its

As
a specialist niche ski tour operator in France
we feel that the resorts of the Pyrenees, rarely
offered on the British market, are well underrated
and represent excellent value for money - together
with a new experience than you would normally get
from larger resorts and at lower prices. Other
advantages are the unique character and intimate
charm to each resort, the genuine friendliness of the
locals and the mid-altitude locations ideal for the
younger children who will not be subject to altitude
sickness. Moreover, you will be able to enjoy meals
with a Spanish flavour and experience a relaxing way
of life.
The
ski domains here are developed at a smaller scale
than the world-renowned resorts of the Northern Alps.
What makes them attractive though are their equally
first class lift systems, good snow reliability and
snowmaking from top to bottom of the main runs. The
slopes here undulate below and above the tree line
and thus suited to beginners wanting to build
confidence and the intermediate skiers and
snowboarders looking for a challenge.
Though
they are indeed further away from the Channel ports,
these mountain ranges have easier access than you
might think. Driving from Calais to the Pyrenees will
take a less than couple of hours more than getting to
the Tarentaise in the Northern Alps. For those who
prefer flying Toulouse, Pau, Lourdes/Tarbes are
excellent gateways to the Hautes-Pyrenees.

resort of Peyragudes so a car would be
advisable.

nearby attractions are the casino in Luchon, the
Gavarnie circus and the Lourdes Caves. So there
really is something for everyone!
